Yes, there are still a few diehards ice fishing in the northwoods, but for those of us who love open water action the best, fishing season is here. Locally as of 3/31/17 water temperatures are typically 38 - 40 degrees. The spawn is still ahead with most walleyes hanging in down river holes in 15' - 20'. Limited male milking has begun. 1/8 - 3/8 jigs tipped with minnows or plastics has been the preferred method while we've been picking up fish on snap raps and rippin raps as well.
